How
it works
To start the demo, click the "Start Demo" button at the top of this
page. The main window of the demo will then be displayed. Note that this demo
was originally written for an intranet, so it may take some time to load over
a modem connection.
The applet is
driven by the mode buttons
at
the top of the demo window. These are enabled when the applet is fully loaded.
First, use the
mode buttons to select the operation that you require, then click on each component
that the operation is to apply to. When you select a mode, the mode button is
disabled and the mode is shown at the bottom of the window.
For example to start the file load, click on the
button, then click anywhere over the
representing
the file load process. The oval will change to green and the number of running
processes will be displayed. You can then click on the remote host image to
begin loading files.
Similarly, to
stop either component, click the
button, then click on the component.
Use the
button to change the configuration of a component. In the demo, only the configuration
of the remote host can be changed. Once in Configuration mode, click on the
remote host image to display the Remote Host Configuration window.
Note that changing the remote host's configuration will cause an alarm to be
raised.
To view details
of the current status of a component, use the
button. Click on a component to display it's status window.
Any actionable
event will result in the alarm window being displayed. Some events are not actionable,
and if you want to see if there are any of these events, click the
button.
You can force an alarm either by stopping the file load and allowing the queue
to build up to more than 20, or by changing the configuration of the remote
host.
Double clicking the alarm text will enable the Action button if it is applicable
to the alarm. Clicking the action button will either directly correct the problem,
or present you with a window to enable you to correct it.
To terminate the demo, either click the "Stop Demo" button (you can start a new run of the demo by clicking the "Start Demo" button), or leave this page.
